Planar Chaos is a small set with 60 commons (inc 20 colourshifted), 55 uncommons (inc 15 colourshifted), and 50 rare (inc 10 colourshifted) cards. This is the same size as Coldsnap and is smaller than other small sets of the era.
Planar Chaos was sold in 15 card booster packs. Booster boxes have 36 packs

The US printing uses sequential collation with 11 × 11 sheets. Packs are ordered commons, colour-shifted commons, then uncommons, colour-shifted uncommon or rare, and the rare. If a foil card appears, it will appear as the last card in the pack after the rare, displacing a common.

There are two regular common runs, A and B, with 22 and 18 cards, each printed thrice. Booster contain 4-5 commons from A followed by 3-4 commons from B. All observed packs with a foil had 3 A commons and 4 B commons. Colourshifted commons form a separate run of 20 cards, each printed six times. Packs contain 3 colourshifted commons. This means that each colourshifted common is only 77% as likely as each regular common.

Regular uncommons form one run with 40 cards, each printed twice. Colourshifted uncommons and rares form a separate run with 15 U each printed six times and 10 R each printed thrice. This means that each colourshifted uncommon is equally as likely as each regular uncommon, and each colourshifted rare is equally as likely as each regular rare.
The A common run contains 22 cards each printed thrice.
The B common run contains 18 cards each printed thrice.
The colourshifted common run contains 20 cards each printed six times.
The uncommon run contains 40 cards each printed thrice. There is still some uncertainty with this run.
The colourshifted uncommon/rare run contains 15 and 10 cards each printed six and three times. There is still some uncertainty with this run.
