Legions Collation

Legions is a small set with 55 commons, 45 uncommons, and 45 rare cards. This is one extra uncommon and one extra rare compared to other small sets of this era, which appears to be necessary to keep the colours balanced when all cards in this set are monocolour.

Legions was sold in 15 card booster packs. Booster boxes have 36 packs.

The US printing uses sequential collation with 10 × 11 sheets. Packs are ordered commons, then uncommons, and the rare last. If a foil card appears, it will appear as the last card in the pack after the rare (if any), displacing a card of the same rarity. This means, for example, a foil rare will replace the regular rare.

There are two common runs, A and B. Run A contains 30 cards each twice, and run B contains 25 cards each twice. The first six commons are from A and the last five are from B. If there is a foil common, it can displace a card from either sequence. (Presumably, a card from A is displaced 6/11 of the time to ensure that A and B cards remain balanced.)

There are two uncommon runs, α and β. Run α contains 22 cards each printed five times, and run β contains 23 cards (18x U5 and 5x U4). The U4 cards are shortprinted (80%). Packs have 2 cards from one run followed by 1 card from the other.

It is likely that there are also two rare runs (matching the uncommon runs) which would result in five of the rares also being shortprinted (80%).

The B common run contains 25 cards each twice.

Uncommon Runs

The α uncommon run contains 22 cards each five times.

The β uncommon run contains 23 cards, 18x U5 and 5x U4 (shortprinted uncommons).

The shortprinted uncommons are: Akroma's Devoted", Gempalm Sorcerer, Earthblighter, Goblin Dynamo, Enormous Baloth.
